Fat in the neck and double chin area would certainly be classified as a LipoDissolve Type problem. I find LipoDissolve injections to the neck to be a particularly effective treatment, probably the best use of an injectable fat reduction method. It works in this area for good reason, the neck has a small surface area and therefore the problem of fat is also limited. It fits well with my concept of the “manual” evaluation method to determine the candidacy of LipoDissolve. If the area fits the size of my hand (size 6 ½), then it is reasonable to treat with LipoDissolve. In many necks that I have treated, the results with LiposDissolve can be close to those of liposuction.

The concept to understand about LipoDissolve is that it is an ineffective method of treating fat, although not surgical. Unlike liposuction, fat injections require months of treatments to achieve their final results. So while it may be effective, it is not efficient. Liposuction surgery achieves its results in less than 30 minutes, even through a surgical process. Generally, the ineffectiveness of LipoDissolve would not be a problem if the treatment was hidden and not socially obvious. However, in the neck and double chin area, the effects of LipoDissolve treatment are visible to everyone and I am not just talking about the final results. After each LipoDissolve treatment session, the injected area will immediately swell and will remain so for about five days. And when I mean fan … think about doubling its size! Yes, I said twice the size, you’ll have a bullneck. And this swelling process needs to be repeated every time a treatment session is done, usually around three treatment sessions are needed to get the best result. For many patients, this neck swelling and how to explain it is enough to make them choose liposuction over LipoDissolve. For others, the importance of not having to go to surgery and the added expense make the temporary neck swelling worthwhile.

Besides neck swelling, the other consideration is whether neck fullness is an isolated problem. LipoDissolve is pointless if you will undergo other procedures anyway. The purpose of LipoDissolve is to avoid a surgical procedure. If you’re getting on the operating table anyway, opt for liposuction and enjoy the efficiency benefits of surgery. Also, if you have a lot of loose skin, LipoDissolve may not be a good option. While it has some ability to lift and tighten thicker, fuller skin, it is not a substitute for neck lift procedures, particularly in older patients.
