If you believe that it is every person’s responsibility to leave our world better, safer and more sustainable for future generations, it is time for you to make your voice heard and let your political leaders know that you will hold them accountable. , for any damage, do it! Whether this is caused by neglect, denial, shortsightedness or greed, self-interest, and any personal/political agenda, the bottom line must be to require those we elect, select, and/or promote to positions of public leadership, to take the personal responsibility to think outside the box and do what is right for humanity, both today and in the future. Mike Bloomberg has warned that unless/until the next president we elect, in 2020, acknowledges and addresses the very real threat of climate change, other things won’t really matter! It should concern us all, President Trump articulates a message, denying climate change (and even mocking the concept, involved), although, almost all scientists and experts in the field, warn us to take this seriously, before it is too late! This article will attempt, briefly, to consider, examine, review and discuss why the sustainability of our planet is so much more important and relevant than any potential short-term economic gain and/or daily politically motivated self-interest!

1. Is Climate Change real?: Although I am not a scientist, nor an expert in this field, those who are seem to be convinced that it is! I think, perhaps, because this threat was originally called global warming, rather than climate change, to those who either didn’t believe, or it wasn’t in their best interest, found it easier and simpler, to bury their heads , in the sand! The ice at the Earth’s poles has substantially melted due to years of rising temperatures. The impact of that, in the longer term, can be an imminent threat to many coastal areas, due to rising tides, etc. Remember, denying it exists or procrastinating will not make this threat go away.

two. Clean air and water: For decades we have been warned that we need to pay more attention to making our air and water cleaner and safer! Many of our previous presidents have taken this responsibility seriously, but the current one seems to either not care or deny that there is a need to protect our environment. When President Trump signs executive orders allowing the dumping of coal mining waste, etc., he appears to be doing so to serve his personal, political, and self-interested agenda. By appealing to his top supporters, in the short term, his actions jeopardize his health and well-being. Also, denying the relationship between car emissions and clean air has a huge impact on air quality. Many diseases, including pneumonia, COPD, etc., are exacerbated by exposing certain people to pollution.

Unless the next president we elect takes this seriously and declares the equivalent of a war on climate change, etc., future generations will be at risk! Wake up, America, and demand action and workable solutions/approach, instead of denial and procrastination!
