In this, our special Madness Chronicles Corona Episode, we’ll look at the insanity and overreach of America’s response to the Coronavirus. Remember, insanity is an especially severe state of mental illness, extremely foolish behavior, and a state of frenzied or chaotic activity. Let’s take a look now.

Let’s start by saying that we know that the virus is a severe risk for Americans, especially our elderly. That said, there are some crazy things out there. The Vermont government just announced that being self-sufficient in its own food production is not essential. Really? Yes! The governor announced that he prohibits the sale of … brace yourself, garden seeds. His insanity is attributed to the Coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, in Tampa, Florida, a federal judge ruled that abortion clinics could remain open since killing babies is an essential service. Excuse me, but it looks like a mental illness.

Meanwhile, this week’s jobless claims hit a whopping 6.6 million people sitting at home. Furthermore, it is a self-inflicted wound. That comes days after President Trump announced the most massive bailout in American history. A whopping $ 2.2 trillion to ‘help us overcome’ the pandemic. Maddening, to say the least.

In Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, robberies have increased 20% since the mayor issued a stay-at-home order. The mayor recently came out and asked the criminals to stay put during the crisis. The order to ‘stay put’ comes after the increase in robberies and after the mayor of Baltimore called on criminals to stop during the crisis. All of that strikes me as extremely silly behavior.

In New York City, ground zero for the virus in the United States, City Council President Corey Johnson issued a statement saying that the presence of Samaritan’s Purse in Central Park was very disturbing. You see, Samaritan’s Purse came to town free of charge and established a 68-bed respiratory hospital to help the town through its crisis. But being a religious organization, the Councilor objects.

New York Mayor Bill DiBlasio announced that if churches defy his order not to meet, he could close them permanently. The governor of New Jersey has done the same and has established checkpoints to see who follows his orders. In Kansas, they are monitoring the ‘compliance’ of your stay-at-home and quarantine orders with cell phone data. There is a lot of hectic and chaotic activity.

In Montana, where there are more cattle than people, the mayor of Billings announced that there could be arrests if people don’t adhere to social distancing standards. In more curious news under the Great Sky, Governor Bullock activated the National Guard and dispatched it to the state’s airports and train stations. The assignment? Check all incoming passengers and inform them that they are quarantined for fourteen days. All I can think of is, apparently, that anyone who enters the road or bus is immune to the virus. Go figure.

The governors of Nevada and Michigan decided they could decide which prescriptions doctors could write. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer stated that she would revoke the license of any doctor who prescribes the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine to treat the coronavirus. Of course, the drug is being used around the world to effectively fight the virus and save patients. Two weeks after issuing the order, Governor Whitmer demands that President Trump send the drugs to Michigan. You can’t make these things up.

If all that is not enough, we have government leaders from coast to coast calling for the release of prisoners in response to the virus. That is curious. You have a population that does not respect the law, or they would be where they are, that they are completely quarantined. All you have to do is control who enters with them and eliminate the risk. But no, let’s release them because we are sure they will ‘self quarantine’. Madness, I tell you madness.

May we wake up from this madness before it is too late. I wish you good health and until next time … have fun, enjoy life and watch out for the madness between us.
