Do you need a Fast Home Declutter? Are you in a state of PANIC? That could mean you have to put your house on the market and it seems to be “on the verge of exploding” -OR- it’s your turn to throw the party and your family barely fits in your house – where would you put the guests?

This means you need to do some emergency house cleaning, and fast! Time is the factor here. You have to use it as wisely as possible. You just don’t have time to do a detailed and thorough cleaning, you need it done, yesterday! BUT, you can still do it nice and organized, and fast.

  1. Rent storage space, yes, this will cost you, but it will make up for it with the sale price. You will get much more money for a house that is uncluttered and appears to have ample storage space.
  2. If you’re not selling your home or simply can’t afford to rent storage space, get creative. Can you borrow space in someone else’s home for a predetermined period? If you’re selling, it’s important to get “the stuff” off the premises. If it’s for an event, you can use your garage, basement, attic or spare room, somewhere your guests won’t see.
  3. Gather supplies: garbage bags, boxes, lots (buy used, borrow, look in the paper, get from stores), laundry baskets or bins, tape, markers, notepads, clipboards, scissors – this has to be “organized”. chaos”!
  4. Pick a room to start with and a corner to start with.
  • Put the garbage in a garbage bag
  • Put the “I don’t need anymore” in a box or bag (label them first to avoid confusion) these are donated
  • Put “I know I want to keep it, but I’m not sure where it should go” in a box and write it on a page in notepad and put the page with the box.
  • Put the “I know I want to keep it and it belongs in another room” in a basket or container
  • Put the “Not sure if I want to keep it” in a box – listed on paper with the box
  • Leave the “I know I want to stay in this room” where it is.

  • throw trash
  • Donate the “I don’t need”
  • Save the “I want to, but I’m not sure where” message (clearly labeled)
  • Put the things that go in another room in that room
  • Save the message “I’m not sure I want to keep it” (clearly labeled)
  • Then all you are left with are the items you want to organize in that room!
