Throughout the centuries, occasions are never complete without cards being made and sent to everyone. All over the world, no matter what race and culture you are, the art of card making is always a part of your special events. It is a tradition practiced by millions and millions of people that transcends language barriers and cultural differences. Cards are simple notes that are used as a means of sending nice greetings or special messages to different people for different reasons.

It is true that with this age of modernization and technological advances, this practice is slowly fading into the background of our lives. Just like how quickly technologies evolve over time, so too is the adaptation of almost every aspect of human activities, including the simple card creation process. From being the simple use of paper and simple decoration and message, a more technological version of sending greetings through electronic cards or e-cards arises.

Sending a message to someone through greeting cards became a part of every person’s life. It is first introduced during childhood as part of school activities facilitated by teachers to enhance children’s creativity. This is then enhanced during elementary and middle school days where kids and teens are tasked with making special letters on Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and even Mother’s or Father’s Day. It has been encouraged to allow people to be more creative and expressive with their feelings and ideas.

Over the years, life has gotten more complicated and people are so busy dealing with their lives that they no longer even have time to make and send special notes. People often resort to buying pre-made notes and sending them to people they know on special occasions. They don’t have time to sit and exhaust their efforts in making their own design and message to send a card to someone special.

Card making is not just a simple process of cutting materials and pasting them on paper and adding whatever message a person chooses. Card making doesn’t just require you to have a very pretty or complicated design. You must have the will to do something with your own effort for someone special. You need to take the time to choose the right or appropriate design and materials to use. You have to have a message that comes from the heart and not just a copied one. Above all, a card will not be unique and special if it is not made with love.

Card making is the process of creating a simple card that came from your own effort and love. It is a journey that goes beyond paper and the materials you are using. It is not just a process, it is an Art.
