I have always been fascinated by Chris Angel and David Blaine. I love the way they baffle us and use the powers of mind control to perform amazing magic. As a magician, I can usually tell how a magic trick is done. Mainly due to the fact that you can buy the same magic trick at your local magic store, and I bought a lot of them.
Mentalism, on the other hand, uses principles of hypnosis and / or suggestion to present the illusion of reading or mind control. Usually there are no special accessories or gadgets involved (or so the public thinks). Anyone in the audience using Chris or David could be thinking of anything, but they always know what that person will do or think.
Imagine my surprise when I came across a product that claimed it could perform many of the same amazing yet simple magic tricks that Chris Angel and David Blaine perform on television.
If you’ve ever seen these two magicians perform, you know it’s amazing. However, when one magician can fool another magician, that is a sign of a world-class artist. These two artists have fooled me many times. Since I always want to learn how the pros do it, I was intrigued enough to keep reading the sales newsletter. Sure, in the back of my brain, I was telling myself that I was only reading it from a research perspective and that I had no intention of buying the book. However, by the time I was in the middle of the sales newsletter, I absolutely HAD to buy the e-book.
After reading the book, I was pleasantly surprised by all the easy magic tricks that were included! If I had this when I started, I would never have needed to buy all the magic books and accessories I spent my money on. If you’ve ever bought a magic trick, you know how expensive they can be.
There were hundreds of magic and mentalism tricks included, but one of the easy magic tricks that caught my eye was “Sit down and stay.” In this, a volunteer is invited to sit on a chair on stage. As he talks to them, they feel more and more heavy, to the point that when he asks them to get up and stand up, they can’t.
The authors’ writing style is easy to follow and perfectly understandable. However, if you are a newbie, the book can be overwhelming as there is so much magic here.
The Master Mentalism e-book has 289 pages of trick after trick. Besides that, you also get some bonuses. The one that impressed me the most was the Encyclopedia of Card Tricks. I haven’t had a chance to count how many cheats are there yet, but it’s almost 500 pages.
Plus, you get an e-book, which has some of the tricks that David Blaine uses on his TV specials, as well as the secrets of some of David Copperfield’s greatest illusions.
Overall, Master Mentalism is an excellent e-book. You don’t have to wait for the magic to arrive in the mail. You can download instantly and start performing right away. This eBook and the bonuses will appeal to beginning and intermediate mentalists and magicians. If you are an advanced mentalist, you will not find anything new here. Advanced magicians like me will find many new tricks that can be added to their repertoire. The Card Tricks Encyclopedia alone is worth more than the price of admission, so I would have to give this ebook and bonuses my top recommendation.
