Your hand changes throughout your life. The lines you see on the palm of your hand today are not exactly the same as they were a year ago, and are probably very different from five years ago.
Although your hand gives a sketch of your life, it is only a tentative sketch. You have the final decision on the direction your life will take. Whether you want the job or not, you are the captain of your own destiny.
Palmistry, like a medical examination, is strictly a diagnostic reading. It can point out the forces that operate within you and it can point out the logical results of these forces. You can accept them as they are or start changing them.
As with the Tarot, be very careful when expressing what you see in the palm of a person’s hand. Some lines may show a particular area where your subject has very serious problems. This should be presented as “an area of possible weakness and something to be particularly vigilant about.”
On some occasions, you may find a particular combination of lines that indicates an untimely death. If this is the case, don’t blur what you see. Rather, emphasize the need for great care to avoid illness, accident, violence, or whatever the rest of the hand seems to imply as possible causes.
Remember, palmistry is only a diagnosis, it is never a final pronouncement.
As a palmist, your attitude is of great importance. He never tries to “guess” his subject by adding on-the-spot observations and facts that he knows in advance. He only reads the palm of the hand. Ideally, you shouldn’t know anything about the person you’re reading. His hands and your intuition should be enough.
THE HEART LINE
The lines of the heart (various end positions)
The heart line governs our emotional life and shows how we relate to others. It is the main line closest to the fingers. It runs the length of the palm, starting below the little finger and usually ending in the area between the first and second fingers.

If the heart line forms a smooth curve, beginning below the little finger and ending between the index and middle fingers, it is known as the physical heart line. People with physical heart lines can usually express their feelings well. Although they suffer their share of ups and downs, they quickly recover and get on with their lives. They are likely to express their feelings in a physical and assertive way. You could say to someone with this kind of heart line:
“As your heart line ends just below your fingers, it shows that you have an open nature and can express your innermost feelings. You are warm and affectionate. When things go wrong, you manage to pick yourself up quickly.”

The other type of heart line is the Mental (or Humanitarian) Heart Line. This runs in a straight line across the palm of the hand and does not curve at the end. People with mental lines of the heart find it difficult to express their innermost feelings. They will suffer in silence instead of making a scene. They will have many romantic feelings that will prevail over common sense. They are very sensitive and need a lot of space around them.
You could tell these people:
“You have a heart line that runs directly across the palm of your hand. This is known as the mental heart line and makes it quite difficult for you to express your innermost feelings.
Gradually it will become easier for you, but you have to work at it. You can be sensitive at times and possibly hold things back a bit. You like people, but at the same time you need to have space around you.”
Since this line governs emotions, it is common to find some with defects, since we all have ups and downs at different times in our lives. The most common visible signs of trauma are a series of islands in the heart line.
These islands indicate a period of difficulty. Usually, problems arise from a relationship. This makes it very easy to determine if someone had an unhappy marriage followed by a happy one. In this case, the earlier part of the person’s life (the part closest to the little finger) will have a multitude of islands, while the rest of the line will be clear.
final positions
The final location of the Heart Line is extremely important. Ideally, it should end between your first and second fingers. This gives a balance between the ego (represented by the index finger) and the rest of humanity. People with this are realistic about their emotional lives and don’t have impossible expectations.
If the line ends at or directly below the index finger, the person will be idealistic and easily hurt. Other people will rarely live up to your expectations, leading to frequent disappointment.
If the heart line ends at or directly below the second finger, the person tends to be selfish and thinks only of himself and his own personal gratification. They will lack emotional involvement.
Often, you’ll find a heart line that branches off in two directions at the end. This person has a complex emotional nature. He or she will see both sides of a situation.

Occasionally you will find a Girdle of Venus. This line is often made up of a series of small unconnected lines. It runs parallel to the Heart Line and lies between the Heart Line
Line and fingers. This indicates an extremely sensitive and highly emotional person who may be unstable and neurotic.
