Cross trainers (also known as elliptical trainers) provide a very low-impact workout and are a great way to improve your fitness level and lose weight.

I recently tried the ProForm 895 elliptical and would like to share my thoughts on the machine. It is made by Icon, which is the largest manufacturer of fitness equipment in the world.

I found that the oversized pedals, along with the 16″ stride length made for a comfortable action, although riders over 6 feet tall may find a trainer with a longer stride length that has a more action. suitable for them.

The console is a decent size and includes a fan to keep you cool and a set of speakers that will plug into any audio player with a standard 3.5mm jack. They won’t replace your existing stereo, but they’re certainly a nice added feature. One thing that’s certainly not a gimmick is the iFit card slot. These are basically SD cards containing structured workouts, usually over 8 weeks. This small slot gives the Proform 895 unlimited flexibility.

Built-in programs keep your workouts varied as you work toward your goals. There are 6 built-in workouts and 2 that take advantage of the heart rate monitoring functionality. Remember that you will need a compatible chest belt. I used my Polar belt and it worked perfectly. Check with your dealer to see if a belt is included.

If you don’t have a chest strap, you can use the pulse sensors built into the center grips. Because they’re not on your arms, you may need to change your position, but it’s only for a moment and then your pulse rate is displayed on the screen. As with other ellipticals with this feature, it’s just a snapshot and doesn’t allow for heart rate monitoring.

Space-saving technology and integrated wheels make it easy to store the machine and allow you to reclaim your floor space when your workout is done.

The machine is covered with a 2 year parts and labor warranty, with the frame also covered for life. I thought this was acceptable and compares to other machines in this price range.

Due to its build quality, features, and the fact that it folds, I would recommend the ProForm 895 to:

  • Those with limited space who require a machine that does not compromise on quality
  • Users who want to exercise taking care of their joints
  • People who like to follow and progress in structured programs.

So in summary, the Proform 895 is a solid elliptical machine with plenty of features to keep your workouts varied and effective.
