Las Vegas has over 120,000 hotel rooms and searching for a hotel in Las Vegas can be overwhelming. So where do you start? Well, first you have to determine the location and then the budget. Why is location important? The strip is very long (3 miles) and there are also options for hotels outside the strip. It all depends on what is the best option for you. Sin City hotels can be divided into 3 areas inside the Strip and 3 areas outside the Strip. Below are descriptions of all of them:

Center stripe:

This is the most popular area to stay. It is centered around the intersection of Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Blvd. Many call this “The 50 Yard Line of the Strip.” It is true. It is the most famous intersection in all of Sin City. The hotels that you will find within walking distance of this area are:

  • caesar’s palace
  • Bellagio
  • flamingos

South strip:

The southern end of the strip is the closest to the airport and is somewhat isolated from most of the action on the central strip. However, there are many beautiful world-famous hotels in this area. If you’re looking for more spread out resorts and don’t want to venture to other hotels in Las Vegas without taking a cab, this might be a good option for you. The hotels in the South Strip are:

The north side of the strip doesn’t have many hotels, but it does have some of the best, including the world’s largest hotel, the Venetian/Palazzo. Yes, they are two hotels in one and they are connected. The same goes for Wynn/Encore, which are also connected. Below is the list of North Strip hotels:

  • Westin Lago Las Vegas
  • Ravella

No matter where you decide to stay, it is very important that you find the hotel that matches what you are looking for. There are so many options in Sin City and there is definitely a hotel to suit every taste and budget. If you’re looking for a deal, definitely stay away from Friday and Saturday nights. Las Vegas is always busy and most hotels on the Strip have occupancy levels of around 90%. However, there are plenty of deals to be found, especially in the middle of the week. The “Hotel Tonight” iPhone and Android app is a great source for same-day hotel reservations, if that works for you. Also, pay attention to what is happening in the city. Sin City is home to many conventions and special events throughout the year. You can pay a premium if you come during a big convention, holiday weekend, fight weekend, etc. The second half of November and the middle of December is the low season in Sin City.
