Because no matter how fast or slow you hear things, you don’t get all the teaching the first time. You don’t get all the subtleties and nuances. You don’t get the second and third level of meaning.
If you really want to absorb and internalize the information, you have to listen to things two, three, four, even five times (or more). That way, you’ll learn everything they’re teaching, and not just the superficial material.
