When one looks at home gym equipment today, one can see many varieties of equipment and machines. Some great gyms even have equipment that not many have seen or even heard of. But having a plethora of equipment doesn’t necessarily mean producing the best results. In fact, one can notice that members of large gyms look exactly like members of much smaller gyms. How is this possible? Certainly, having more equipment translates into having better workouts and, therefore, better results. This is not necessarily true on all occasions. If a person takes the time to list the common equipment found in both large and small gyms, he will get the following results and realize why these are the most important gym equipment.

The most common and important gym equipment that one would notice is the dumbbell. In fact, it is the most practical and the most versatile that leads to the best results. With a dumbbell or a pair of dumbbells you can exercise all muscle groups (both major and minor). With weights, a person can exercise the chest, back, shoulders, arms, and legs. They are not only used to build and tone muscles, but are also used for aerobic exercises. A person may notice that he tires more easily or his heart beats faster when swinging a dumbbell several times than when jumping or dancing. Without dumbbells, a gym can’t be a gym.

The second most common and important piece of gym equipment is the bench. The bench is necessary for a person to perform the most effective chest workouts. It is also used for exercises that may require a person to sit or lie down to perform correctly. Advanced abdominal exercises also require the use of the bench for optimal results. Without the existence of the bench, gyms would be filled with too many people standing or lying down doing weird moves, not to mention members getting poor workout results.

The third most common and important piece of gym equipment is the pull up bar. Nothing strengthens your back muscles more than the pull-up bar. Not only does it work better than the pull down machine, but it also costs much less than it. The bar is also used for advanced abdominal workouts that require people to be hanging. It’s no wonder every gym has at least one as part of their equipment arsenal.

With the use of the gym equipment mentioned above, one can expect the same results when exercising in a large and expensive gym or in a smaller and cheaper gym. In fact, one can even have their own home gym with these important pieces of equipment and still get great results. At the end of it all, it’s not so much the gym equipment that produces the results. It’s how you use this equipment that determines the results people get.
